190 Rocket To Don Mills Station.

A two hour conversation remarkably has me at peace.
Something so simple had such a profound impact.
The power of human connection is something not to be underestimated.

Nasty NaS.

Everyone is asking where NaS went - he never left.
Here's his last verse from the unreleased "Film".
"I speak to the street life,
The executive chief types,
The felons, young mothers with kids they trying to feed right,
The botega wearers - modern day Che Guevaras,
`Cause I barely survived crazy eras,
Honest, always make good on my promise,
I don't talk it - I do it, you can hold me to it,
I was born to this life - I didn't invent it,
But I’d be wrong not to take a few meal tickets,
You and I are real different, we don't share the same beliefs,
Fight in the ring or buy ringside seats,
Either you like beef or you like to spectate,
Give me gloves, and I'm a do it how the refs say,
We touch `em and we come out tussling,
The ghetto is my garden of Eden,
So I keep bobbing and weaving,
It’s intense so I’m hardly breathing,
KO, and the winner is NaS, that’s how the scene ends"

Undone - The Sweater Song.

Looks like I am the only genius mind updating nowadays. Then again, I happen to be the only one with a severe case of insomnia. Anyway, it is in this aura of tranquility where thoughts form. I look back on my posts as a member of the Three Genius Minds and think to to myself: "A lot of personal thoughts have been put forth in this blog." My posts have transformed from a review of Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde to lyrical metaphors pertaining to my favourite artists and, for the most part, heartbreak. Indeed, it is true. Ted Mosby seems to have met Miss Robin Scherbatsky - but please don't mistake this for a story of How I Met Your Mother. After a mistaken outcry, a simple conversation is long overdue - months, in fact. It seems crazy, but it is a mistake I have to make. I always seem to wear my heart on my sleeve. I am, me be, goddamn, I am. If you want to destroy my sweater, pull this thread as I walk away. Either way, at my ushering: it's your move Scherbatsky.

The Basement.

First off, thank you to my best friends - throwing me a surprise party planned months in advance. It is definitely a great feeling to be the recipient of a surprise party - a great natural high. With that important and necessary recognition of excellent personal relationships out of the way, I revert back to this post. Why must I call it the basement? Let it be a reflection of Alpha. The new year and new age ushering in a fresh start. A beginning drowned in reflection of self, personal relationships, and the world that engulfs each. The basement: a place I feel at home. Whether it be my barely christened place with mama dukes or the home of fellow Genius Mind Jon, it is a place invoking sweet serenity and beautiful bliss. It is at this Ground Zero where I feel at peace. A sweet escape from any personal problems, reprieve from the harsh realities of everyday life. Interesting: A city boy finding tranquility in basements far, far away from the eye of Toronto. Regardless, an accurate representation of thoughts bubbling below the surface with an attempt at composure on the exterior.

Caspers? It's Kinda Like A Big Deal.

Tell me now can I make it past my Caspers? I mean, around this time of night, they always seem to haunt the unsuspecting. They chose the perfect target in that insomniac freshman still desperately seeking to fulfill that New Year's resolution of his. Sleep? I guess I adopted Nas' youthful musings on Illmatic, "Never [sleeping] `cause sleep is the cousin of death". Seriously, being unfortunate enough to be awake at this time does nothing but force thoughts to float around. Even Ke$ha understood the meaning of a clock's annoying ticking sounds at 1-second intervals - they are a constant reminder of time passing. That can be equated to time running out, resulting in missed opportunities - not to mention, loss of sleep. Without working towards that goal, the expiration date on the possibility of reaping its rewards came closer with each Tick Tock. Has time already expired? Am I already part of that vaunted 'zone'? Heck, Cudi seemed to enjoy his zone so much, what's to look forward to in mine? At the moment, I just see ghosts. I thought I may have been over it, but Casper seems to be intent on floating around for a while - I doubt a ghost ever listened to a request of going away. The apparitions refuse to give me peace of mind, instead they request a piece of mine. Amidst all this, one thing is for certain: you are the cutest thing. You knock me down again, and again. No biggie, right? Er, it's kinda like a big deal.

...I was legal

Of course I'm talking about my amazing trip to Montreal! Let's just say that I abused my rights in every way I could think of.

Dec 30th, 2009

After a long 8 hour bus ride from Toronto>Ottawa>Montreal...we arrived at Karen's AMAZING place to settle in for a bit. (let's not forget Julian's french skills towards the cab driver on the way there) Headed out to Nickle's for breakfast and Le Eatons for some browsing. After checking in to me and Jacqui's hotel, we went for a quick walk and picked up a 24 of Keith's (soooo sorry guys! it looked cool) which I had to carry about 5 blocks back to Karen's. Later on that night we headed out to a lounge where Julian showed everyone in Montreal how the boys get down in Tdot with his booty clappin' n all.

Dec 31, 2009

Woke up to meet up with Melissa N Andre(Black Counterparts). We walked around a bit until they got tired n left. Me n Jacqui spent the rest of the day shopping and heading to places we heard of ex. Influence You(Rainbow of MTL), Holts(Much bigger mens section than TOR), U&I(Nomad of MTL but better...Junya Watanabe), and some random boutiques. All very nice stores but left with nothing. We did manage to find a really nice bakery on St. Laurent called Au Pain Dore which had these amazing eclairs(Soul Purpose #4 of going to MTL). We had 2 hot chocolates, soup, panini & 5 eclairs.

Later on that day of course was New Year's Eve...OH GAAAWD! So...we all found this really really cheap club for like 20 bucks...wooohooo right? WRONG! Fuckin Oldies to the MAX! so bad where we had to leave to find another club which turned out pretty decent. See us teenagers didn't really understand the concept of "You get what you paid for", maybe we did but for sure didn't know it applied to clubs. Like Karen said, "`Causee we got money to bloooowww".

Of course after new years arrived, We headed back to Andre & Mel's hotel for some good ol' fashion afterparty drinks & hotbox..pizza....taxi ride to our hotel 5 mins away.

Jan 1st, 2010

Hmm pretty relaxing day throughout...Woke up, went back to meet with Andre & Mel to go out to look for some Steak & Eggs only to find out it was too late for that..so we went to a diner where I had some Fish&Chips. Jacqui & Mel both got this very interesting Chicken sandwich smothered in gravy...too bad I didn't get any good shots but yea it was a decent place. After that we headed to Karen's to play some pool & gitz(where I got pwn'd). Went Back to Andre & Mel's to pre drink & hotbox again where we waited for a club event that flopped, so we decided to hit up the casino(no pictures allowed). Went back for some more drinking & planning of the day to come.

Jan 2nd, 2010

Lets just say we had plans that were scheduled to start at 10:30 but didnt start till 2. We really wanted to go to Basilique Notre-Dame because it was where Celine Dion got married. We took the Metro(TTC of MTL) to there, walked around for a bit and did what we had to do. When we were done, I got some gifts for the family and we headed to Le Steak et Frites. Lemme tell you about this place...wow. When you first look at the storefront, you think it sits like 20 people max..until you walk in and the waiters serve you to your table all the way in the back where it's like a whole new place. Lovely place where they recommended us to bring our own wine, which we went out to get from the local corner store(yeaup!). Great place, I'd def go back...fine dining so Andre was a bit hungry after...

Honestly though...we saved the best for last. Yea we know you hate us Karen...STRIP CLUB! Went got a beer each..and let that shit rock!
Question: How do you know you have the best girlfriend?
Answer: When she buys you a LAPDANCE!
I don't even know how to describe this girl...she was flawless. I've seen all types of girls, know numerous pornstar names, and observed every female on the television screen..and I'm telling you she blows them all away. As soon as she walks out rappin' and singing along to the song playing, we all thought she was black mixed. Turns out she was French/Vietnamese with a goddamn tan. A mix of Tera Patrick & Rihanna but yet carried her own UHMPH. She was def. the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. Jacqui & Mel would probably agree because they are the two sickest girlfriends ever!

All in all, the trip was a huuuge success! With a few bumps here & there, some bullshit taxi routes & the burning smell of money I wouldn't hesitate to do it all again. Most of the money went to food which consisted of eating out and ordering in every night. Pizza Pizza in MTL is just a different kinda thing...the pizza had the freshest cheese, most well baked dough, with the best bacon & pepperoni I have ever had from a pizza restaurant.

Great Success! I had a great time with everyone that came down to MTL, which I will never forget!

RE:Pursuit Of Happiness.

Alright, I was going to stay caught up with my notes. However, my professor has not posted the lecture slides on the website yet. Thus, I have a 2 hour break with nothing to do - my calculus textbook is at home. Calculus textbook + Answer book + Laptop =/= Feasible option. Therefore, I am writing another post. Call it a spontaneous train of thought, I definitely am. An update on that Pursuit Of Happiness? As Kid Cudi put it, I'll be fine - once I get it, I'll be good. One of my best friends gave me excellent advice: "Why remain stuck in the middle of the road? You're at a fork in the road. It can go either one way, or the other. Rather than remain stuck waiting at the fork, make something happen. Either way, you get an answer and life goes on." And I get to continue on a path. It's like a game of Chess. Am I going to trudge along like a pawn, letting life dictate my moves or will I enforce my will like the powerful queen? Maybe I'm in between - A knight, the enigma. The unorthodox one seeking to strategically venture through life. Never conventional, never ordinary, brink of extraordinary. That sounds about right.

Synchronicity.

With the release of a personal favourite albums list put forth by Chris, I will soon reveal my list - as will Jon(?). Stay tuned - it may take a while with the extensive collection that I must put more listening time into. Alas, one idea influencing the entire triumvirate to follow suit. Sounds like a perfect triangle to me.
